The Three Mountains Of The Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom theme park is home to three different mountain-themed attractions. All of these attractions have been categorized as thrill rides. Even though all three of these rides are mountain-themed, they are all very different rides.
Splash Mountain – Located in the Frontierland portion of The Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain has been in operation for over twenty years. Splash Mountain is a log flume ride featuring various characters from Disney’s film Song of the South such as Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox. The ride features 3 distinct, different drops that are sure to keep the crowds soaked. The first drop is a small hill that riders simply ride down. The second drop sends the riders down a hill then quickly back up another hill, it also takes place completely in the dark. The third hill is a massive 50+ ft. drop. The rider’s picture is taken during the last drop.
Space Mountain – Drastically different from the Frontierland staple Splash Mountain, Space Mountain is a space-themed indoor roller coaster. The ride takes place completely in the dark and lasts for about three minutes. Riders travel “through space” as they race against the other roller coaster cars.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a runaway train – themed roller coaster that is also located in Frontierland inside The Magic Kingdom. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad puts riders on aboard a runaway train. The track even looks old and like it could break at any second. Riders shouldn’t worry though; all of Disney’s rides are completely safe.
